Description

The Mars Wrigley Foundation is proud to continue its Community Service Grants partnership with the Australian Dental Health Foundation (ADHF). Since 2011, this program has encouraged dentists, dental students and cross-functional teams of dental professionals to implement community oral health initiatives in high risk populations throughout Australia. This year, the program is providing twelve (12) grants of US$6,000 each and one (1) grant of US$10,000 across two categories for Australian Dental Association (ADA) members:[1]

Prior to completing this application, please review the following requirements: 

1.0 Selection Criteria

The Grant Review Panel will evaluate applications using the following unweighted criteria:

  • Significance

The extent to which the application meets the ‘Project Summary’ criteria and offers a creative approach to improving the target community’s oral care and oral health education.

  • Outcome measures

The extent to which the application sets specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time bound outcome measures.

  • Feasibility

The extent to which the application demonstrates a logical and sound planning process for implementing the project, follows a timeline appropriate to the goals and outcomes set to be achieved, and indicates long term sustainability once the grant is completed.

  • Timeliness and relevance to the community

The extent to which the proposed project meets a timely and urgent need of the local or at risk community with cost-effective and sustainable solutions demonstrated in the planning of the execution.

  • Project is community service oriented 

The extent to which the proposed project services the community via the grant funding. 

Please note: Community Service Grants do not fund pilot studies or research.

2.0 Re-purposing of ‘Project Summary’ for promotional purposes 

If you are successful in receiving a Mars Wrigley Foundation ADHF Community Service Grant, this is not only beneficial to the recipient community, but also an asset to your organisation as it can serve as a positive promotional tool. The Mars Wrigley Foundation will be undertaking public relations activities to promote the successful grantee initiatives across dental media, as well as ADA media channels. Your participation in this is extremely valuable. If you are successful in receiving a Mars Wrigley Foundation ADHF Community Service Grant, our media agency - opr - will provide a comprehensive briefing form to explain the scope of media outreach in further detail. Media outreach will commence from mid-late July 2019 and end in December 2019.

Photographs for media opportunities 

If you are successful in receiving a Mars Wrigley Foundation ADHF Community Service Grant, this is not only beneficial to the recipient community, but also an asset to your organisation as it can serve as a positive promotional tool. For promotional activity, you will need to supply one high resolution photograph (no blur) electronically, which can be shared in the ADA Bulletin and with potential local media. This photograph should reflect the nature of the project and should showcase your work in action.The people/scene in the photograph need to summarise the submitted grant application (e.g. team of dental professionals with other volunteers). Please do not send a corporate headshot. This photograph must be ready and available by Friday, 5 July 2019. 

Reporting requirements for grant recipients

If you are successful in receiving a Mars Wrigley Foundation ADHF Community Service Grant, you will be required to report on the successful implementation of your grant upon the project’s completion as of Monday, 31 December 2019. The Mars Wrigley Foundation will provide a copy of the Reporting Template Form for grant recipients to complete and return. 

NOTE: More than one entry from an applicant will be allowed, but only if each application shows merit, and are not deemed to be duplicates. Only the materials requested will be allowed. 

Applications may be sent on behalf of a constituent or component organisation of the ADHF. Current ADA Executives may not apply for a Mars Wrigley Foundation ADHF Community Service Grant. Members of the Grant Review Panel may not apply as principal instigators, but may do so in another capacity. For more information, please visit www.adhf.org.au
